In project management, demand management refers to the structured recording, evaluation, and prioritization of project requirements and resource needs. The goal is to make optimal use of available capacities, identify bottlenecks at an early stage, and enable well-informed decisions for project planning and control.
The process of requirements management depends on the process model used to realize an investment. In sequential models, a change request process is used to change requirements. In iterative models, there is no change request. Instead, additional requirements are defined at each iteration, and requirements that have not yet been realized are prioritized.
The official placing of an order for a project is called a project order or project charter. A signed project charter authorizes the project and serves as a guideline regarding goals, resources and deadlines during its implementation
